If it has the 6.0 gas V8, she’s just getting started at 200k, can’t kill that engine.

On my way to the doctor now, just can't go on any longer since the back pain is maddening  :-\
Phoned and got a better rate, $75 for the consultation a d 20% discount on medication
Let's hope this will work.....still got a train to load tonight and it's a team effort to get that done.

Small price to pay not to suffer.

You’ll likely not get the good stuff but hopefully they’ll prescribe a strong muscle relaxer.

Good luck.

Thank you sir, I should have gone earlier in the season already but now during harvest it just became progressively worse and today I almost folded. I know the receptionist and scale lady is well connected and she phoned and arranged me the special 'low income' price for a consultation but rest assured; I was honestly treated like never before.
South Africa is known for good medical care and many of our doctors immigrated especially to Australia. I have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, and so did Mr Zog when we were still with Netcare 911 back in the day.
However, not because I'm pro America but this experience at the clinic was exceptional at every level.

I dont want to go into much detail of my diagnosis but it is unfortunately something I will have to accept, process and live with.
I got all my medication and was also impressed with how it works; you say like in my case Wallmart pharmacy and then when you get there its already packed. No waiting or scrubs like in SA.

Next step;
Doctor will phone me to come and see the specialist that will do a corticosteroid injection between my vertebrae. That is Very expensive, but will make my life better and I have committed to go ahead with that.

Some lifestyle changes to follow, some decisions and changes ahead. I just dont feel ready to give up motor biking and will hold on a bit, but will have to limit all risk factors. Problem I face is that the motorbike is my only means of transport.

Goodnight

As previously discussed Tom, I had those injections, they give almost immediate relief (24 hours) and my back has continued improving (never will be 100%) but I don't do manual labour.  :thumleft:i

Tom

My full respect for you for doing a physically demanding work as a 50 plusser.

Regarding your back.

In 2006 I was considering back surgery, as I could not live with the back pain anymore.

I went to see the Doc, then the physiotherapist and then a back clinic, where you exercise on machines that directs exercise to specific muscles. It's all about strengthening your core muscles to support your spine.

I however did not maintain the exercises at home, and my condition deteriorated.

Beginning 2019 I joined Crossfit to improve fitness and loose a bit of weight. As it is a group program, it was strenuous on my body and I stopped going.

Early 2020 my daughter took me to the Core 360 "gym", where I train with a personal trainer, focusing on core muscles and general fitness.

My vertebrae are properly aligned, but a number of discs/cushions in my lower back are compressed.

Exercise improves blood flow to these discs, which result in a slight recovery.

The most important as mentioned is to exercise and strengthen your core muscles, if you want to carry on with a physically demanding work.

Before I started training, Core 360 requested an inhouse biokineticist evaluation, to ensure the correct training.

I'm aware that you have little time for exercise, but do find some core exercises you can do at home.

If need too, I will ask my personal trainer to assist with a program, you can do at home.

These guys became good friends, fellow South Africans by name Graham and Milan working for Parker harvesting and trucking.
It was one of the highlights of my day to see these guys coming in, dumping their trucks and talking a bit of kark in Afrikaans.
They are on the move to a new area and fields, harvesting is big time this year.
An older gentelman told me today that he has never seen a corn yield in his life like this before, with farming experience of over 60 years!

The rest just a few random pictures I took.
The side effects of the high dose of prednisone I'm on for the back makes me feel a bid weird, but I am almost pain-free - not quite but I can live with this.
I am a bit in machine mode, maybe we all are at work. Despite taking a few hours off earlier the week to see the doctor I still have 75hours for the week so far and we still need to load a train tomorrow, that is basically double the amount of a normal work week  :)

Hope you all doing well and thanks for all the comments and kind words, it helps  :thumleft:

Glad to read your pain has subsided and you’re high on life again!

It pains me to think about Safricans driving semi’s in my country though with them so used to driving on the wrong damn side of the road!
