Ja I also thought it was special. I've known Operator for almost 20 years and was over the moon when he told me he's getting the bike and riding it down. And I got to see and hold the fire bucket!
My original plan was to meet Operator at Albertinia or Riversdale.
Then I got called out to Bredasdorp area Saturday morning.
Then the rain in George delayed Operator in George and I was glad because maybe I could still meet him somewhere.
I only left Bredasdorp 2 o'clock and was outside cell coverage until 3. The roads are pretty bad and I got to Heidelberg about 5 o'clock after picking the kids up at a friends farm where I dropped them Sat morning, taking them home, swoping the car for the bike and hauled ass up the N2 (in matter of speaking)!
Then a quick ride Heidelberg - Swellendam along the way we took the famous pic where the sun rays shines more on the 650 than the 250 (or is it just me?)
Here's a pic of where we spent Sat night drinking red wine and talking sense!
Then Sunday morning it was our monthly trek to Malgas (church) so we had to leave early again and I couldn't ride with him to Riviersonderend and maybe even meet Uiltjie.
All this means they'll just have to come back sometime soon!
