Odd Motorcycle you have owned
« on: September 14, 2014, 02:45:59 pm »
So what was the very first   weirdest motorcycle that you ever owned?

Mine was a Honda P50.
Weird little moped thing, with the engine built into the rear wheel. My mom bought it for me in 1969 for the princely sum of R20.00
In those days we lived out in the sticks (Chartwell Witkoppen ) and I used to ride it to the school bus stop, leave it there for the day then ride it home in the afternoon. If I remember correctly, it had a top speed of about 40km/h down hill and the pedals where used to help it get up hills.
I was trolling the internet, and I believe these are now very sought after as they have become extremely rare, only 8 known in the world.   So if you have one ...hang on to it, it's quite valuable.

This is in fact news to me that such a Honda ever existed!! And that it is 2stroke, are you sure it was as long ago as 1969?

Here's another odd one ...I haven't owned one but its a really interesting bike. Made by SOPWITH ...as in Sopwith Camel

Founded by Granville Bradshaw, All British Cycles (ABC) began producing motorcycles in 1913. Their designs were noted for innovative features, such as a transversely-mounted flat twin-cylinder engine in 1918, five years before BMW adopted the design.

Founder Granville Bradshaw also designed a unit-construction horizontally-opposed flat twin for Sopwith Aircraft in 1914. The company had a long association with Sopwith as innovators of several designs for the latter.
