Those two crazy Dinosaurs and Junior

So as you ous out there no by now, and if you ous didn’t no, well then now you ous no that we, that is me and myself, Ian in Great Brak River and the newest one to join the pack, my “skoon seun (Sproket, Helgard, Junior dinosaur) or as we have had the pleasure to rename him “Tappet” We “sommer” went through Botswana then to Namibia and back to our posies.

Now I “sommer” like no that you ous like don’t dig the “gooing” of the stories introduction, so I will make it “lekker” easy and tune it too you ous any way. The ride threw Bots was like a bit boring, but when we got to Nam the fun started.

Lotsa “kak” talking and route planning and helping Tappett get a bike for the trip, He for some stupid reason like digs a KTM so if that’s what makes a ou happy well then we will accept it. And I thought I wasn’t like all that “Lekker” up there, goes to show some ous are worse off than me. He he

So now me and Ian are like getting all the planning “goetes” in order, so that we  “sommer” know where to go and how to get there.

Now im “sommer” like “lekker” sure that some of you ous  are gonna tune !! (Duh!!) by bike. But hey man a ou “sommer” has to know how to get the bike there as well. (Eish) some ous.

Now as we are like compiling this list of all the “goetes” that we must take with us on the bikes, Tappet like “sommer” tunes me that he wants to take his block and tackle with in case he falls and then he can “sommer” hook it up onto a tree and pull his bonnie back onto its wheels. Tuned him {NO), well with that in mind, I decided to go two days earlier than planned to his possie to make sure he only packs the necessary “goetes”

So after a lot of “sukkeling” with him and trying to get it into his head that the lighter the better D Day arrives

Now as you ous should no by now we had a party the night before as its like customary and I scheme we like had a few cold ones too much again, as the head was still not feeling to “lekker” once again. (No comments on that aloud)

Friday22nd Day 1   (220km) (Klerksdorp-Zeerust)
Ian is cruising down from Groot Brak doing his own thing and riding some “lekker” roads to get to Zeerust to meet us.

Ian “gooies” me a phone call to tunes me his like 150km away from Lichtenburg and we must get our asses in gear and get going. Tune him no such luck as Tappet is off to town to get his cell phone which still isn’t fixed.  Schemed if Ian had a head gasket he would of  blown it. He he. He tunes us he will cruise slow and then we can “sommer” catch him on the way. That did not happen.

Departure time13h30. We only left at 14h15 dam man I still had to finish my cold one.

So now we cruising like all “lekker” fast so that we can catch up to Ian 140km on the clock and only 70km away from home when all of a sudden I “sommer” feel that my Boney  wants to “gooi” me off as for some daft reason some thing doesn’t feel “lekker” behind me, as I “gooi” a look behind me I check my pannier box “sommer” trying to attack Tappet, but as it cant “klap” him it “sommer” “gooies” all its “binne goed” out and shame poor Tappet “ had to dodge all of my “slaap goed” and stuff.

Mmm!! We picked up all the gear and I checked out the box only to check that the lock thingy had broken, and also that the bloody box “sommer” was like bent a bit.
So I takes out a cold one to contemplate this “moerse” problem. I finds me a “klip” and I “donner” the box a bit more straight. Ha!! box “sommer” starts to fit in its possie, so we get out some ( rock straps) and tighten it in its place.
Kit back on and of we go.

Now to make like sure that we not gonna loose the box again, I stop after 10km to check it out. No problem box is “lekker” tight, but as Tappet gets of his bike, The slant of the gravel and the “lekker grooit toring” That Subie was tuning us about, lets gravity come into affect and front wheel comes up and it “sommer” checks like his bike thinks it’s a jet plane on take of and bike starts to go over. Tappet is trying his best to stop it, but there’s no way and down she goes. His such a happy chap that his bike is the first one to “donner” over that he “sommer” posses for a “lekker” photie.

Help him pick up his boney as I made sure that he did not bring the block and tackle with and of we cruised to Zeerust. Stopped and bought some cold ones and headed of to find Ian at the Tapalogo Lodge. Ok we find him but im a bit worried about him

Not sure if his lost it or not, but he “gooies” me this look and then I new he was okay.

Have a few cold ones and talk some “kak” and then as I turn around I check that the KTM has “sommer” like wet itself,

Shame can’t blame it being in the middle of such great and famous Boneys.

Tappet goes to admire Ian’s Bike

Don’t let the rooms in the back ground mislead you ous, we are true adventurers and bikers and WD and the two “Moerse” strong Dinosaurs and we had to teach Tappet the ropes so we slept out side ( We just messed up the beds to fool the owner ) and we also did not go to the restaurant and Ian and Tappet did not eat ox- tail and  I did not eat a steak for supper,  as it was our first night out we decided to go hungry and not even to drink any cold ones either, :bar:

Saturday 23rd Day 2   (445km) ( Zeerust - Khama Rhino rest camp)
Now we wake up like “lekker” early and Ian starts his Yammie which fires right up, (He did not even give it its morning coffee). My Honda decided to be a bit temperamental as (I had not given her a cold one yet) and after a minute or so she fires up. In the mean time Tappet wants to show of, Must be a Dutchman thing as a “soutie” will never do stuff like that. Tooth brush in the “bek” hair uncombed, sleep still in his eyes, he hits the Ktm’s switch only to hear (ha ha ha) an almost dead battery, He he. Now me and Ian are like hosing our self’s with laughter and shame poor “Tappet “ , he “sommer” just checked us two ous out whilst he was feeling like a proper “poooople”. He pissed on his own battery. He he. I “sommer” got this brilliant idea and tuned them that we should make a fire under the KTM to heat up the motor so that it could start, Tappet quickly pushed it into the son and begged us to wait a while. Half an hour later it started.

Lucky for her
This was the start of us “spotting” with each others bikes each morning.

We check out the Pannier box and Ian pulls out some parachute rope that he stole some where and “sommer” makes the pannier box look like new as he ties it in place.

We go and have small breakfast ( 3x Slices toast, 2x fried eggs, bacon, pork sausages fried tomatoes and bake beans) as we was still like not hungry. 11h20 we packed up our kit and took to the road for Serowe (Rhino sanctuary)

Stop next to the road for a smoke break, dam forgot I don’t smoke any more so I don’t know what to call it but we did have a naartjie each.

We reach the border and do the necessary stuff to get into some other ous country
Now Tappet has begged me not to “gooi” on this piece, but I feel its my right to inform all of you ous about border crossings and there problems. Now theirs 6 SAP ous checking out our “lekker kwaai” boneys and giving the bikes info to the one ou at the computer, they get to Tappets bike and they ask him what make it is? He tunes them it’s a Ktm. No they tune him what make is it, like a Kawa or a Honda or a Yammie or what. He tunes them again that it’s a Ktm, they still did not believe him, this went on for about 5 minutes. I eventually tuned them its part of the Honda family, this they believed and then they were all happy and we could go threw.
We ragged the shit out of him about it.

Ian sets up his gorilla to take a Photo of us but alas his Gorilla does not do the trick so he has to use another one.

And so on we cruised.

Dodging pot holes that had no pot in them, evading the blood thirsty goats.

And the silent deadly look of the “Donkeys”

We were forced to take in supplies at the local pizza place in Maun.

I even kept the motor running for in case of a quick getaway.

Alas we finally reached Serowe where we took in more supplies in the form of dead skaap tjops, which we hastily acquired as well as some well needed cold ones to fight of the nights chill. We then made haste to get to the Rhino Sanctuary campsite, as the sun was already settling down for its evening sleep.

We arrive at the gate, only to be informed that there’s no way that we will be able to get our bonnies to the camp sight as the road is “dik” with the sand and it’s night time and that we are like gonna “donner” over and such “goet” We pleaded, we tuned them what tough ous we are. We even tuned them that we are WD, and then I even tried to bribe them. No the horror we had to leave our beloved steeds at the gate to be driven to the camp site in a cage (the shame) of it  The 4x4 cage slithered and grunted like a monster in its last death thingies all the way until we finally came to a holt at our camp site.

In the dark we had to set up our tents and prepare our defenses for there was a leopard out there some where.

Well the word must still be doing the rounds as not to look for “kak” with the two Moerse Strong Dinosaurs as he did not come to say hi ”Bloody Bang Gat”
Had a few cold ones.

Got the fire going.

Set up our “stoele

Had a few more cold ones whilst we braai our dead lamb chops

Have a “lekker” graze with sweet corn, buns dead lamb chops and salamie.

Then we tell scary stories whilst sitting under this ghost tree

Ian “sommer” got scared and checked out for the ghosts

Then it was time to catch up on some kip and lucky for us Tappet chased away all of the ghosts and scary animals with his snoring, Dam but he can snore sounded like a chain saw in pain.

Sunday 24 Day 3   (550km) (Khama Rhino rest camp – Maun )

Sunrise

It was a bit “koud”

We make some coffee but im not aloud to tell or show you ou’s that, because we ous only “borsel”our “tanne” with cold ones.

Had a bit of a “kop seer”
Get our kit packed and ready to go as the driver will pick us up at 08h00

Meanwhile we take some pics

Some how they forgot about us. Ian takes a “trap” and finds a bakkie and proceeds to give the “Poor “ ou hell. He radios in and they send another 4x4 bakkie to fetch us. Get to the bikes load up and take to the roads

Ian and Tappet refuel their stomachs “sommer” next to the road.

Stop for another break and I could “sommer” see that Tappets head was still not “lekker” so we were forced to have a cold one to make it all better.

Its one long shitty road, you have to keep an eye out for the unfriendly goats.

They “sommer eat everything

Just check out the “moers” big holes that they made here, and then theirs dogs. Horses,

Pot holes and the bloody scary donkeys

They couldn’t care a shit about you, they “sommer” stand in the middle of the road and check you out as if to say what the F@$$ do you want, piss of you ous are bothering us.
I even “klapped” one and he liked just looked at me as if to dare me to do it again, Tappet almost “donnerd” off his bonnie again as he was like laughing his bloody ass off at me and the donkey as we were having words, ok I was tuning him “kak” and he was like just “gooing” me this what the f$#$%$ look.

We find some lekker scenery on route

We have a few more cold ones and bugger around on the road

Dam I didn’t no a Ktm could go so fast

Ok Tappet stuffed around the most.
Stop for another cold one, dammit this possie is hot.
Finally we reach our camp site for the night, Maun Lodge in Maun, a possie in the middle of no where

Hey they are shaped a bit like tents, besides we slept out side again and just used the possie to hang up our clothes to dry.

Paid some attention to the bikes.

Then we decided to go and “verken” the joint, Dammit luck was on our side, we found this great watering hole

We even had the natives of the area build us a fire in the middle of the eating area so that we could relax and keep warm.

The natives were honored to meet us Two Moerse Strong Dinosaurs and Junior Tappet Dinosaur that they prepared us a feast for the night and called it a (Calvary)   we participated well into the night drinking the cold ones and feasting on the delicious food dishes that they had prepared for us. Tappet was amazed as how our fame had spread so far.
The next day we gave them gifts of cash to thank them and to show them appreciation for there hospitality, which they gladly accepted.
Time to move on,

Monday 25th Day 4   (400km) (Maun – Tsodilo hills)

We pack our kit and manage to finally convince Tappet to lower his tower.

We head on down the roads again, No difference today as it still feels like yesterday, goats, dogs horses, pot holes the long stretch of black in the middle of perfect gravel and the famous donkeys.

We do mange to find some beauty in the ride and the country.

We have some fun along the way and drink some cold ones

Honest Mom those cars were like that when we found them.

Finally a bit of gravel, the turn off to Tsodilo Hills

The road was “lekker”, a bit of corrugation and a few holes here and there, but by this time we were so “lis” to ride gravel we took it in at 100 to 130km an hour. Dam we were having a ball.

The camp site for the night, we opted to sleep under a roof this night.

We had a few cold owns and made beer bread to go with our supper.

Ian had a shower and made him self all pretty

Took some photos of the scenery, one can always find beauty in nature if you look for it. ( proverb by me ALLEN I )he he

Tappet went to find some wood for a fire and had a small accident as his ax decided to attack him and “klapped” him a shot right between the eyes

The axes head came off (I gave it to him as a present)
Lucky I like the ou, or maybe I don’t. He he One never knows

And then he “donnerd” out of the same tree.

I was lying on the ground laughing my ass off, he for some stupid reason did not scheme it was that funny.
Started the fire by using only wood  see im using the stick method (A true Adventurer)

Brilliant hey.

Ok how did that get in here? (Red face)

To make sure we did not burn the place down we “sommer” built the fire in the road.

The sunset

The fire
