It was only a matter of time as traffic increased steadily over the last few years. I thought they would cite the additional maintenance burden the traffic brings as reason.

What do you want? It was a kak boring road straight along the railway on one side than a limp chance to break yourself and the bike on the level crossing and straight along the railway on the other side.
The new main road was build and tarred years ago.
If you want to ride dirt there are plenty and nicer dirt roads further inland.

I was more disturbed when the road from Dwarskersbos to Elandsbaai was rebuild and tarred as it removed the "end of the civilised world" status from Dwarskersbos  and civilised Elandsbaai :-\

The higher traffic volumes is due to the work on the N7, and big infrastructural projects with the green power generation in that area, I used that road exclusively when visiting those customers because the N7 added 2 hours travelling time ......... ;)  it,s straight... but it's next to the sea  :ricky:
oor B..erge en RIV..iere sal ons ry,
mag dit altyd tog so bly....

Yes it might be straight and "boring" but I found it more entertaining to ride than the tar road when I had to ride home from that side of the world.

Your 100% right Briv.
Once the new tarroad will be completed hardly anyone will use the railwayroad.

Dis nogal jammer.

Mens betaal al 'n geruime tyd nie tolgeld nie

Its complicated

That's it in a nutshell.
Pad verval verder.... ens. ens. ens.
