Hi, this bike you are pointing out is mine up for sale, in all honesty it is the best decision Iv made. It was also a match up against a GS 800 and when this one sells in time I will buy another one.
This bike has given me no problems and has started first time since the day I bought it. The only thing I can say is that is became a bit difficult at low revs in the technical sections, this is mainly due to the high amount of power the bike has and to ride it like a proper enduro bike you find yourself in low revs and you find yourself stalling a bit. What I did was put a 14 tooth front sprocket on when I know that I am going on a ride with some moderately tight stuff, it shortens the gear ratio giving you more room to play and also turn the mapping to intermediate or low HP setting, this give you a great riding speed in mid 2nd gear and will not back down to any hill. I am confident to take this bike almost anywhere my mates on there 450's go. I do ride to save the bike and not to drop it at all, so wont keep up with their pace in a race but will never get left behind. In case of a longer trip, i put a 16 tooth in front and it gives me a whole new gear on the top end and still has enough power to keep you satisfied. (I can only imagine what the EVO 2 performance kit with the cam and air filter will do).
The reason I bout this bike was so that I can do the enduro trails with mates on the weekend and also do Rallye Raid events when they come up, I also want the option to jump no an get to Baviaans from PE for the weekend and ride with the dogs when they put a ride up. The 690, especially with the rallye kit (better light and added fuel) is the do it all bike on the market. If this is what you would be looking to do, covering all angles with one bike, it will also be the best bike you have ever bought.
