You can use a card up to 64 gig with no problems. I have 8 gig in.

Yes it is lifetime compatible

Yes you can download maps onto unit and only music on sd card like I have

You can also delete the europe mapset and then you have about another 5 gig available on the unit as well

I unlocked my maps gpsmapupp file.

Unlocking it you use a file you download.
Found out how to on Gps underground.com

Then copied it onto a 16 gig micro sd and then the rest loaded music onto it.

Ed if you need help give me a shout I probaly could explain it better over phone or show you

Yip that's the map I unlocked and copied over.

If you bring your map sd card around I could unlock it for you.. Then just bring a bigger memory card and we copy over and make sure it works on the nav 5.

We then leave your garmin sd card as the original back up.

Bryan, you mind writing a bit of a how-to for this process? I would also like to keep the maps on the unit instead of the sd card.

Here is a question, how do you listen to music through your nav 5 and connect your iPhone so that you can answer phone calls. This is connected to a interphone 3xt Bluetooth headset.

I can listen to music through Nav 5 no problem,

I can also listen to music from iPhone and then answer phone calls.

But I can't do both ?

Is there a specific sequence you need to connect your nav5 , iPhone and Interphone 3xt

Connect the phone to the Nav V :thumleft:
Thanks LK
Ok then, so phone to nav5 , and then interphone 3xt. Does it make a difference in the connection of items !

BryanOC6, I've got a Sena bluetooth headset but found if you want to listen to the radio and answer calls for example you need to first connect your headset to the Navigator and then your iPhone otherwise it won't work.

Hey BMW Fan, got it all sorted out this am. Music plays and if phone rings sweet I can answer and make calls through the phone book on nav5

I am happy with my set up on the Sena 20.

I connect the Sena to the Nav V and then the phone to the Nav V, all works great.  :thumleft:

when the phone rings, the Nav shows who is calling, and I can answer or reject the call.  :thumleft:

That's the same setup I've got but I use a Sena SMH5-FM.

Quick one guys, get my unit on Tues, does it come with lifetime maps or do I need to buy new maps every year?

You need to buy new maps every year . But you can buy lifetime maps once and update twice a year for free for ever . Check on garmin.co.za . I still need to buy and install .

Yes it is lifetime compatible

You can also delete the europe mapset and then you have about another 5 gig available on the unit as well

Got my Nav5 up and running, tried to copy the files from the 2G SD to a 32G SD and I got the same problem >:(......whats weird is a mate of mine's Nav5 came without a SD card, assume therefore the maps are loaded to the unit itself??...why would one unit be loaded diffrently than the other, both units were loaded by the selling dealers, albeit different dealers?

Some mapsets are available in the SD card as well as download to device option. Depends on the knowledge and preference of person who installed it. Neither option is wrong or right, just different.
