So dogs,a while ago i posted the above link regarding my sons BMW800. Anyway after much battling and fiddling we got the motor out of the frame and the cylinderhead removed to check what the heck was cutting in there.. to date we still have not found the real root cause of the problem that cause cylinder 2 to fail and have no compression. We suspect a broken/ collapsed ring!!

Anyway below 2 pics of the damage i can see in the cylinder.A slight smudge or smear if you like. Question is : can it be honed slightly? and the complete casing re-used with new piston and rings or should i use the donor motor top end  i bought from Rassie800.

i wonder what BMW will have to say when i show this, a 2009 ,model with 27000km on it should not break a piston like this!! :deal:
