A bit of background:
I have a friend at work, Callie, he is 27 years old, and he is in a wheelchair.
He was involved in a freak accident in 2010 while working as a Caterpillar mechanic.
He is also a keen bike enthusiast, and had his own XT600 before.
We always chat about bikes and the likes at work, and yesterday the topic of sidecars came up.
This is basically the only way Callie can experience a proper bike again.
We looked at the Cape Sidecar Association, and their guided tours around CT, but its hellishly expensive, and mostly geared towards foreigners and tourists.
So I posted in the Sidecar section here, and Visarend and Mev Visarend were kind enough to offer Callie a ride with their GS1200 sidecar setup.
Now the Planning of the ride:
Callie’s parents live in Glentana/George, and he will be with them over the festive season.
The Visarende are also in the Western Cape over December, and they will be around George area the 22nd and 23rd of December.
So I was thinking the George WD’s can get together for a breakfast run or outride with the Visarende and Callie.
Route:
- From George to Knysna via 7-Passes route.
- Breakfast at Chaplin's Bistro in Knysna.
Shop 3A (next to Clicks), Woodmill Lane Leisure Shopping Centre, Main Street Knysna

- Knysna back to George via Kom-Se-Pad, Prince Alfred Pass and Montagu pass.
