Bike Freight - Peter Baker
« on: November 15, 2014, 08:51:04 am »
Hi Dogs,

Anyone have experience with his service?

Sent my booking & pymt to have KTM 640 Adv transported from P.Maritzburg to Pta on 4th. Then hear nothing from him...
Phoned him eventually after no return on e-mails that I sent. He recons I did not complete the booking form 100% Told him that all the relevant info (of the pickup address is on the mail I sent with the POP and booking form)

"Oh sorry he did not see that".

Anyway Delivery will be on Friday late afternoon or Saturday morning (today)

Just got off the phone with Ekerold Yamaha (pickup address) They confirm bike is still there, and nobody called on Chris (contact that must release the bike to Bike Freight) to arrange the upliftment.

Not very happy at this moment...  :xxbah:

Perhaps anyone coming from P.Maritzburg / Dbn to Pta / Jhb? I'll contribute well towards fuel.

OK, received a call from the Bike Freight driver at 19h00 last night (myself & missus at wedding function) he claims he is 15min away from my house.
Asked him when did he pick up the bike. Claims he did it late the morning, and drove directly from there to Pta. (I presume this happened after I sent sms as long as a essay to Peter Baker explaining how disgusted I'm with his service and communication skills - his phone still not taking calls, however another Dogs that dealt previously with him said he blocks calls, however does receive sms)

Told the driver to deliver the bike this morning, lets hope all is well  ::)

PS e-mails I sent on Saturday morning all returned as timed out and not delivered....

Great, he pitched up just after 9h00. I'm happy now & son = VERY HAPPY  :ricky:

Still no word from Peter Baker....

PS I did receive a R 200,00 discount on the final bill though  :3some:

In conclusion, I think if Peter worked on his communiqué with his clients he could save himself a lot of embarrassment and angry clients.

I have used both Peter Baker and more recently Milly's, both are absolutely shit at keeping the customer informed. In fact Peter had an accident on the way and damaged my bike, without remorse or any offer to pay. Neither of the 2 committed to a delivery date and refused to reply to email. I assume the latter so there are no records.

Also Milly's claim on the website that all bikes are transported under cover, this is not so, mine arrived on an open trailer.

As far as I'm concerned i will never use either again, just terrible to do business with them, unreliable and believe they doing us a favour...

In both cases the bikes were delivered DAYS late and i was not able to accept and has to ask someone else to accept, could expect them to cause a shit storm on my behalf.

I will vote with my feet.

I had a problem with Peter Baker - he dropped a bike of mine off his trailer.
Transported it down from JHB to Parklands/Blouberg without problem.

Re-organised some bikes, tying mine on with 2 straps, and dropped it over a speedbump less than a kilometer from his house.

Lots of cosmetic damage, including wearing thru a crankcase cover, broken pannier box, broken screen, dented tank, you name it...

He promised to refund me the transport charge - in writing - and never did. I still have the e-mail!

I did not get a chance to insure the bike since he picked it up FIVE DAYS EARLY, when i was exhibiting at the 'washed-out Rhino'.
It caused me a lot of heartache.

It was sad to hear that just 10 days later, he/his driver badly damaged 5 Harleys being transported up to JHB when his trailer flipped; and he issued a clarification on his website of just how the accident happened - brand-new trailer, slightly out-of-kilter.

Stay away.
Cheers
Chris
