You are welcome to it. Wiry pol gras that no beast will eat, especially a goat which can't bite it off as it is too tough. It looks like grass, but it isn't.

Taaipol gras, as jy daai goed nie met 'n 1.8 m bossiekapper met nuwe lemme sny nie, lag daai gras vir hom.  Ja plough it out and plant something better.  Just not eragrostis.  Smutsfinger or similar if you are going for grass again?

But try not to post rainy pix again please, not now in any case.  :-[

Farmers eye view......

Actually what you see there is the most amazing discovery I made on that farm. Once I was finished building cottages and being sucked up in the commodity boom ( ::) ) and I started looking at the farm itself, someone spent a lot of time clearing rocks, building swales etc, so I have just been re-establishing existing fields that haven't been cultivated for at least 20yrs. I have no idea what was grown there before but I have ploughed up a few hay rake tines so it must have been some sort of baling grass.

Sorry about that..  >:D  That field is intended for smutsfinger, Goats don't like eragrostis at all. I'm spending a lot of time and effort improving pasture, but my farm is small and as someone pointed out to me, 1 Ha of good pasture is worth at least 5Ha of overgrazed crap.

I must actually thank all of the farmers on this forum who have helped me out of my state of ignorance where farming was concerned. There where some exceptionally stupid questions from my side at a stage.

DB would it not be better if you gave that grass a good dose of Roundup before you plow it under? Just for good measure seeing that you do
not want it to grow again.
