Its a pity though. I can see that its more than like Charles from the Bmwclubcape forum that runs cape trials. Same forum software and IMO it sucks.

Would you guys be open to some enduro bikes coming along to learn a few skills with you guys in the CT area, and perhaps wet the appetite for actual trials Riding? Certainly the skills of the trial rider can only improve our enduro skills… immensely in fact.

Me personally, I would love to try ride enduro bike on trials competition, but the oaks in charge don't smaak enduro bikes on their turf, so to speak.

Jeez - I never knew the trials crew were such Knobs? They have the perfect approach then if they want to keep Trials riding off the radar in CT

You might think we are knobs, but read below...

Trials is very much alive in the Cape, although a small group of dedicated riders, there are also those that come and go.
The Nomads MC club is what the cape trials falls under (or is affiliated to)
The www.capetrials.co.za site is very quite, except for the trials dates and the odd tech questions. We don't talk to much, but ride alot.
Trials in the cape was very big, but ever since two friends had a deadly head on at a club trial event, the sport here has gone low key.

There is an event every month, starting from March to Sept, (avoiding the very hot months, cause trials riding is hot enough as it is. Ride a trials bike in your back yard for 15min & you'll be breaking a sweat), IE every 2nd Sunday of the month is the setup of the course & the third Sunday of the month is the club event. Bunch of laid back guys, we score ourselves (like you do in golf) and are generally done by 1pm after a 10am start.

We ride every Thursday at Zonnebloem school in town and often do outrides in different neighborhoods and areas.
The bike don't make alot of noise & we don't tear up the terrain.
If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't have gotten the venues that we ride on, like two schools in the city.
We had a trial event at the Noon gun (Navy base/Signal hill) in 2014.
There is another venue on a farm in Durbanville and in the forest of an Constancia farm and also at Bonthuys farm on route to Stellenbosch (enduro bikes used to be allowed to ride there, but the farmer used to get to many complaints of noise from the Debonvale golf course).
Last year I rode 4 times a week, we even drove to Paarl rock and rode up to & on top of that big rock just for the kicks of it. But we are low key and don't make a nuisance of ourselves, so we get away with having a jol.

This year we are joining a sports event in Hermanus & are having a trial at the old Hermanus harbour. (try having an enduro event there... greenies...).

We need to protect our venues, as the land owners only allow trials bikes, otherwise we loose them.
Come watch an event or practice day. Bring the right bike for the sport and come ride...

Today I fetched my son from the creche on the trials bike, a few blocks away. Stayed on the back wheel until there, put his helmet on and rode back. Nobody knew there was a "knob", we just rode through the hood, under the radar...

Come ride for yourself, it's lekker

 ;D

I think Zanderas is mainly right, but there is more to it ...
Most people dunno what a trials bike is.  It doesn't really 'look' like a traditional motorcycle.  That combined with an open face helmet, lends itself towards a non-aggressive look, as compared to enduro bike rider in Darth Vader type outfit.  For this reason, trial bike riders can get away with riding where a traditional motorcycle would be 'banned'.
When i say, 'get away with it' i don't mean trespass, i mean that landowners are open towards allowing trial bikes.
But, there is a bigger picture ... trial biking is going to explode in popularity once battery powered bikes become affordable.  Then you are going to see trial bikes everywhere!
So, my advise would be to hang in there a bit longer, and wait for  technology to shove the price of battery power down.   Or, if you can't wait, then get a petrol trials bike and come ride!
