Cape Trails Club is having a ride on sunday 21/5 at Grabouw country club

http://capetrials.co.za/tracker
The Nomads trial for May has been moved to the 3rd weekend due to Mothers Day on the second Sunday.  The riding at the Elgin Grabouw Country Club is sublime.  There are logs of every size and description, a section up a river, rocks, sand, mud - you name it, we have it.  Have a look at last year's report.

The country club has lovely lawns, a restaurant, and ablutions.  There is entertainment for kids, and family will be comfortable waiting for you to finish riding.

The protocol for arriving at the club is as follows:

when you arrive you need to park on the grass on the immediate left as you enter the car park.
Please do not buzz the club area - when we start we will ride to the sections away from the clubhouse keeping noise levels low.  Believe me - you will be whooping with delight at the sections and the liasons, and there is no need to get any thrills in the parking area.
Our behavior and future use of this venue will depend on how we conduct ourselves in the public spaces.
Trial Details

Time: 9h30 for a 10am start.   (It takes an hour to get there  from Kirstenhof via Baden Powell.)
Cost: R150 per bike to parks board - you will see that it is worth it.  Pay Mark Shearer.
First Time? : See our FAQ
Lunch: Bring your family and have lunch after the trial at the restaurant.  Club number is 021-859-3651 and 082-335-7071 - http://www.countryclub.co.za/.
Electrics:
We will cater for electric bikes - there are sections right near the clubhouse, and some docile riding in front of the restaurant.  The further sections are via a flowing spoor where you can choose your line to be easy or difficult.

How to get there

Take the N2 over Sir Lowrys Pass and then take the main turnoff into Grabouw (R321 at the Orchard Farm Stall).
At the 2nd Stop Sign, turn left.
Carry on for about 2ks until the road banks left...
at that point you will see a slip road going straight, over a railway line and a small Grabouw Country Club sign go along there for another 2ks and in to the club.

Ja it was a very nice and different trial, with a worrying aspect to it.  Folks, this event took place IN the dam.  Have a closer look at the pics.  Where we were riding is all underwater normally.  the winter dam height is some 10 to 12 meters higher.  Those logs live underwater.  While it is great to have venues like this, going to them hits home just how hectic water crisis actually is.
Let's hope the rains come tumbling down - we really really need the water!
Nice to see new faces at the trial, and think it was the best turnout in a while.

Cape trials club had a ride at the bottom of Du Toits kloof last sunday-just popped in for a hour or so. Beautiful riding area but as we left the decent cellphone at home did not take pics but hoping to get some from all the face book etc site- ran into this pommie on site and thought that voice and smile looks and sounds familiar. What a nice chap always ready with a smile and a  laugh. Not really made it to events this year but the the numbers seem to have increased and good to see their happy faces- trials guys always look happy :)
I think our  Superman Kobus Potgieter  is now organising-spoke briefly as he was also riding- nice one Kobus :thumleft:

This trial is at the same venue as the SA Nationals legs 5 & 6 that will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of September.  Pencil in those dates - spectators pay no entry, and there will be food stalls and exciting riding by the top riders in the country.

A contingent of Capies, including our Superman, drove up to compete in legs 3 & 4 of the SA Trials Nationals, held in Durban.  A trip report is here: http://capetrials.co.za/content/2018-nationals-legs-3-4-kzn

Its a pity though. I can see that its more than like Charles from the Bmwclubcape forum that runs cape trials. Same forum software and IMO it sucks.
You know, that hurts.  I put in many of my personal hours to provide a service to a sport I love.  I also went to great effort to put up a site where you can upload images easily, without the hassle many people have with this forum that does not even have a WYSIWYG editor.

I don't go around dissing WildDogs, because it hurts the people who work on it and like it.  And I am sure you are a nice fellow - but you name me personally and imply that what I do is crap.

I think an apology is in order.
