How long will the Sani Pass still be gravel?

We feature the highest pass in SA this week and it's imminent tarring. What will this do to the reputation of the pass and how will it affect tourism for the area?

For the purists it's awful news, but maybe for others its good news. Is progress always a good thing? If we look at the Gamkaskloof where an entire, thriving community was destroyed by the road being built, it does require some careful thought and introspection. Tell us what YOU think?  :-\
