16 November

I have been fortunate enough to have had a short break the past couple of days. I never realise how badly I need a break, until I am on one.

Tomorrow it is back to very early starts and walks/runs, and JHB traffic. But, it could always be worse!

These past few days I was reminded again why dogs stick their head out the window of the car- I got to ride a scooter around, and park off in the back of a beach buggy. Freedom!

@Tom van Brits that's a cool one, collecting toilet paper!
I loved Chappies. They still have the facts printed on the wrapper, but the chappie itself just isn't the same anymore  :-\

@Wooly Bugger , gotta stay out of mischief somehow!

Back into the swing of things and quite a productive day.
I have been determined to go with the flow and make the most of not being able to fly. One of the big positives has been being able to donate blood.

As a pilot, you may not fly within the 3 days following blood donation. This coupled with having to rely on blood drives on random dates meant that if I could donate once a year, I was lucky. Well, today was donation #3 for 2020.

Chuffed!

18 November

I didnít sleep well last night and it felt like I had been hit by a bus. Normally the effects of blood donation only hit a day or two later. Not this time.

My day felt as if I was wading through a sickly treacle-like fog.

But... I went for my walk. I had extra time today so I got some really good headspace in the cool, quiet morning air.

While the day dragged by, I did feel a bit more human as the hours passed. But now, I am tired and looking forward to a good nightís rest.

Quite a busy day but at least I managed to sleep properly last night, so that helped! 😅

This evening was spent trying out something new... making shortbread! 4 different recipeís. Tomorrow we will see which has turned out the best!

4 different recipeís, all with the same baking times and temperatures. None of them were ready within the time stated in the recipe 🤫
Some serious oozage🤦🏼‍♀️😅
But then they started to come together.

Thank goodness I only made half-batches! Even so, it is a lot of shortbread!

Verdict so far is, plain is best. Letís see how they taste after a day or two. If they last that long 🙄

21 November

A good day day today.

I have been able to go along on a couple of flights since lockdown, but didnít realise how much I have missed the ďworkĒ side... getting the uniform ready, checking weather and planning, talking to ATC.

Popping up above the clouds and watching the world slip away beneath you.
Even though I couldnít physically fly, it was really good to be in the air.

Jog, walk, sprint, jog, walk, repeat.
An ironing board and bathmat for a hotel room workout. Improvisation is a great thing!

Got to check out the Bloemfontein Botanical Gardens - beautiful.

And then a whole lot of hurry up and wait. But itís all good because I got to fly! Again. And I only messed up some of the radio work 😅 amazing how quickly you lose practice.

A long but great day.

Who would have thought cooking and baking would be so tiring. I am ready to eat and sleep!

Did almost everything I had to do today... except for a huge chunk of admin which I have been putting off for a while. Oh well, it was a productive day nonetheless!

Too. Many. Cookies.
And they didnít turn out the way I had hoped they would.

Oh well. There is one more batch on the cards. Not shortbread. I am tired of shortbread. And then no more baking of cookies or biscuits for the rest of 2020.

The bran waffin was amazing though!
