CRF450X Fuel consumption
« on: December 23, 2014, 10:29:17 am »
What sort of fuel consumption are you guys getting? Talking hard riding and race conditions. Working on a project in my head and need to make a few calculations  >:D

Yeah but it kind of defeats the pupose of having a light bike if you have to carry 40 litres of fuel

Dwerg buy the 25L Acerbis, all you need. Mine dual sporting was very light on fuel (26 km/l). Never raced it but even if you half that (13 km/l) you will get 325 km range.

The idea is to get the big rear tank and stay as small as possible in front. Just an idea at this stage though. I'd have to get a new job and another mortgage on my house first

Does the X stand for Motocross?
If then a short ratio gearbox?
Can one then give the bike "legs" by changing the sprockets?

The X is the enduro. Wide(ish) ratio and happy button. Tops out at about 140 but with sprockets you can maybe get it to 165 in stock trim with a medium weight rider

Sideways down which mine shaft?

Only way you`ll get the X up to 165kph is to Mod the Airbox, Put on a "R" Head with Cams and a decent pipe!

Stock ones are Donkies! Reliable Donkies!

OK da leer ek iets en die R?

R is obviously dan die MX weergawe. Net kickstart. Kan nie mooi onthou nie maar van so 2010 af of so was hulle inspuiting vs carbs op die X. Ek het Bazinga geklok op so 135 op die GPS op sy R die ander dag en hy kom blerrie vinnig daarby uit as mens rol in 5e van 100km/h af. Moes my 690 af trap 4e toe om by te bly

Maar ek dink daai acerbis long range is jou best bet!
Al wat jy doen met jo suspension, calculate your spring rates as if you are 15kg heavier

Mine did 160 on GPS with flat rear tire.
15-48 or 14-48 sprockets
I weigh 83 without gear

Gear commander calculates the X with 14 48 at 162 km/hr so its likely, Stock bike with low gearing I think its unlikely to get 160, the at JHB altitude more unlikely. at Sea level with a R head, HGS pipe and airbox mod we are getting 80 KG rider to 168.

That aside, even if I am wrong, 9800 RPM is killing the motor.

Do you still have your X?

15-48 yields a theoretical 173KM/h which is what I must have been running that day ;)
No more X.

Do you have a crf's "R" head with cams on your "X"?

Got 15,5 km/l out of mine on our ride last weekend, we didn't race but kept a steady pace. 13 / 49 gearing max top gps speed 140km/h on the dot
