« on: December 29, 2014, 09:46:42 pm »
I want to install an after market 12V power point on to my 690 for GPS, etc. Where is the most practical place to install it. Any pictures?

I simply cable tied mine to the centre of my bars (buy the plug with a little base plate) and took the cable around the side of the headset and into the frame to the battery. Quick & easy  :thumleft:
Present bikes: BETA 300RR, KTM 690, Yamaha WR250F

If you're dumb you gotta be tough !!!

I found out that there are 2 spare, unused power cables inside the headlight housing. There are 2 screws to undo, one on each side of the headlight to access the cables. One has power only if the ignition is on and the other has power continuously. I used the one that runs through the ignition and cable tied the power point to the handle bar. Looks ok too.

As Desert Boy said, the wiring is there and super-easy to get to, only two screws.  I bought a socket from Outdoor Warehouse and installed it inside the plastic cover. It works great.
