They sold for R35k each but are gone already.
Well that is what Jill told me but on another site they were advertised for R30k each so presume it was less.

I think I was looking at this bike when still in the market. Bike was in great condition. I offered the owner R40k (he refused, wanting R45k)

After I bought mine he contacted me wanting to know if I'll pay R38k.

If it is the same bike, it is a great buy.
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies

I sometimes wonder if I should sell my G650XChallenge and get a 450.
The 650 has every "fault" sorted.
Soft rims - fixed with brand new Excel rims.
Air Shock - Fixed with a brand new MP Custom shock.
Heavy exhaust - Fixed with a brand new Wings exhaust.
Floppy tail syndrome - fixed with a strong tail tidy from Rockfox.

I really love it though. Just thinking a 250-450 might be a better 2nd bike to compliment the 1200gs

It really depends what you will be using the bike for?

If it is longer distances/commuting then the 650 would be better.

If it purely to have fun with and play around - 450 every day.

I would be able to live on the 450 for long distances in any terrain if I can increase the fuel range (working on that part) and more specifically - make the seat more comfortable.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies

I am again trying to source a 16-tooth CS sprocket, to either drop the revs at around 115km/hour, or to give me the same revs but say 122/3km/h cruising speed...
Have phoned Eddy2Race - no joy, then phoned Perry (Durban), no luck, so may LOOK INTO having one made up 'bespoke'...
If anyone knows of any BMW (or red Husky) ready-to-go 16-tooth sproket, then I would be keen to hear...

I CAN of course change the REAR sprocket (easier) but existing one still has life left, AND I have a new, unopened spare, thus the reason for lookg CS-side...

I'm guessing less chain 'needed' to be used on additional front tooth, rather than say 2 rear-teeth?  :dontknow:

Surely they must be out there.

Would some of the dealers not still have some in stock?

Adding one tooth up front is about equal to reducing 3 teeth at the rear for a similar ratio, thus less chain for rear sprocket change.

Yeah you see since getting the 1200 I'm not really using the 650 for longer rides. Still early days but can't see doing gravel travel long distance with the 650 now even though it's a blast. It was always a thing of me having the 650 and mates having the 1200's or 800's, so I couldn't go where I wanted to really go with it most times, and on the highway their bikes are obviously better although I can't say i really had issues there. The bike cruises 120 -130 quite easily.
The bike I miss a lot is my YZ250F. If we had WR250R's I would take that even.  The YZ obviously wasn't for highways and stuff but it was really great in sand and whoops and stuff. I could ride that much better than my Kawasaki 450 or my KTM 250 2 Stroke. A WR could do highway and be great in the tracks and paaitjies here in the Cape where I can't take the GS.
Then there is the Honda CRF250L but that's actually too heavy - then I may as well keep the Xchallenge since there is only 10KG difference and it's completely sorted.
The 450 always intrigued me for its low weight and being on the road stock.
