On new year’s day I get a whatsapp from GJ (Gideon) asking if I'm keen on a 2 day ride up to Oasis and then over the Old Postal Route back to CT. Is a frog's ass watertight?
Friday morning the 2nd Jan the 4 of us met outside of Skelmbos. GJ (690), his boet Dirk (950SE), Scooterbike (GS800) and myself (690).
First pit stop was Malmesbury Wimpy for breakfast, from there we went via every conceivable dirt road you could imagine, via Morreesburg, close to Lambertsbay and finally ending up at the top of Piekenierskloof Pass before descending into Citrusdal to juice up the bikes.
The pace was nice and hot and the dirt road few by in clouds dust. Next stop was Oasis,via Algeria and Nuwekloof Pass. We were booked in to sleep elsewhere but Gerrit being Gerrit wanted none of that and insisted we stay at Oasis even though they were fully booked.
No problem for us, Gerrit dug out 4 mattresses and we spent a great night under the stars after scoffing down on another wonderful Oasis meal of Spareribs & Steak. Spent part of the evening catching up with a few WD as well as Jupiter who was touring the Cape with his wife.
