Close to Cradock we contacted our Moms and it was arranged that we all meet at one place for lunch.

While eating, a lady (Sorry, but I forgot her name) came into the place and told us that we have to excuse her husband as he like bikes and he is walking around my bike.  Ou Bees said to her as long as he is a WD, Jaco will know him.

Well - I didn't know him, but now I know.  Nice meeting you and your family Jacobsroodt.  Hope the holiday on the farm was nice.

During the conversation it came out that I know her dad, which was a bank manager many many moons ago in Dordrecht - oom Tappies.  Today he is an active farmer.  Sout vd aarde oom.

Dankie Jaco. 'n Heel nuwe wereld gaan vir mens oop wanneer jy bike ry. Dit was goed om julle te ontmoet☺ Bly julle het die reλn vrygespring oppad huis toe.
NS. Nieu Bethesda is wonderlik. Ek is laas jaar April daar deur met my fiets.
BoosterPlug, LED Spots, Tool Tubes, RustStop, Kappa Screens, Top boxes, Tank Bags, ATG Gear - whatever works for me.

My bydrae oor die Beervleidam:

The reservoir of the Beervlei Dam needs to be empty at the start of the flood in order to store as much of the flood water as possible. The Karoo sediments in the area contain a lot of salts and it has been found that lengthy storage of water results in high water salinity. The mode of operation is that any floodwater is used as quickly as possible by the downstream irrigators and the reservoir is thus kept empty for flood absorption purposes. A similar flood attenuation dam has been built upstream of the town of Ladysmith (KwaZulu-Natal) and this dam has a large uncontrolled outlet in its base to ensure emptying after a flood. You will see from this explanation that the Beervlei Dam has not been decommissioned as mentioned by Mr Marachel, but is alive and well in its empty state! I have received many queries from members of the public as to why the Beervlei Dam is always empty.  (Paul Roberts (Pr Eng), Secretary: SANCOLD)  http://www.wrc.org.za/Knowledge%20Hub%20Documents/Water%20Wheel/Magazine/WaterWheel_2011_03_May.pdf

Lekker gelees JMOL.... Dankie....
