640 What gearing?
« on: January 27, 2015, 01:47:45 pm »
What gearing are you guys running? and for what type of riding...

Need to start doing a bit more technical stuff and find the gearing between 1 and 3 is too close for fun!

I had mine on 16 46 (from memory)  but 1 tooth more than standard on the rear, off road it was awesome but my top speed was around 115kp/h then I  replaced it with the std (45 I think). On the low end it didn't change much but top end went up to 145 kp/h. A nice way easy way of checking is www.gearingcommander.com

I do not know what u have on ur bike currently, I have 17/42 which is very long so when I make time I am going back to 16/42. I rode my bike at the quarry in the sand and it was ok but worked the clutch.

Gear master as said earlier is great

My friend with 620Adv and me with 640 Enduro are using 15/44 for mixed riding, from road to technical, it is a good compromise, but don't expect high top speed.

Malibu, I still have the 45 rear sprocket if you want to try it out.

Great, I am running a 16/42 at the moment... not entirely sure what to do at the moment, seems that the ratio I am running would normally be optimal for what I am doing, adequate free-way speed, with enough torque for off-road riding... I just find that I am constantly changing gears. Mark recons I am too mechanically sensitive...

Mmmmmm, keep the 45 for now, let me try Marks suggestions for riding alterations first, thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it later if that is ok!
