Completed a Iron Butt Saddle Sore ride (1600 km in 24 hours) over the weekend. Me on my Tiger 800 XC and a mate on his Harley Road King. Route was Glenvista, Coligny, Vryburg, Kuruman, Danielskuil, Kimberley, Bloemfontein, Winburg, Senekal, Bethlehem, Standerton, Morgenzon, Bethal, Witbank and ended in Boksburg. We had a three hour sleep in Winburg of all places. Left Glenvista at 10H00 on Saturday and stopped in Boksburg on Sunday at 09H15, total distance of 1660 km's according to the GPS.
Just a report on the bike - behaved like a dream, absolutely no issues at all and got an overall consumption of 19.07 km per litre for the whole trip. This was doing between 130 and 135km p/h on the open road and obviously slowing down through all the towns. My bikes odometer indicated 1653 km's, a difference of only 7 km's to the GPS, damn close over such a distance.
