Air freight
« on: February 16, 2015, 07:09:53 am »
I am looking for information on flying 2 bikes back from Cairo to SA in the not too distant future.

Flying – because the bikes need to get back to SA in a specific time frame, and from what I understand, while shipping seems like the cheaper option in many cases the time-frame is unreliable.

So are there any riders out there with info for me?
Suggestions- Referrals- Websites- Contact details- Air freight companies- experiences- pricing….  Anything that can help.

Thanks Guys!!  :)

Contact Fathy El Said of All Trans International in Alexandria.  They shipped our bikes back to RSA and would probably have contacts for airfreight as well.

I did receive a quote form this lady at the time.  All in all actually not that much more than what the ocean freight ended up costing.  The thing is to get a crated as small as you can.

So just for the record...

After looking at the prices I have decided to turn around at the Egyptian border and ride back down to Cape Town.

The costs from the ferry into Egypt and getting ourselves and the bikes back to SA works out pretty much the same as turning around and riding back down again.
And including the time spent in Egypt and waiting for the bikes to get back to SA it works out to a similar time frame too.

So it went form a 4 Month, 15-000 km trip to a 7 Month, 30-000 km trip for the same budget.
We lose Egypt but we gain Mozambique.

Sounds like a good trade off to me.
