Last few days - Nature's Valley, Plett and Addo

I have done the back roads from George to Hoekwil, so it was a new experience for me and Kom se Pad was gorgeous.

Looking at the photos of RT I can't believe how much she has changed from the girl to the blossoming young woman she is becoming in just over a year.

Much to my disapproval, we venture into the 'no entry, highly private property' forestry roads. Thought I was lost a few times as I didn't see the SE for some time, but got to the end eventually.

We opted to stay at Rocky Road Backpackers in Nature's Valley as it was the most affordable during the mad rush of Festive Season. I would highly recommend it. Outdoor showers, clean accommodation and friendly staff.

The had booked in for three nights so we could go explore a bit, so Throttle went off to Plett to get some cheese and croissants for brunch and RT and I ventured off to the Elephant Park. I had done a similar experience in Zambia before, but, like most things on this trip, it was for her to experience something new and exciting.

She got to walk with them, feed them, pet them and go for a short ride.

Elephant Park done and dusted, so off to the Puzzle Park near Plett for a bit of fun. There's two 'puzzle' options. The first one we opted for was the maze, which had four different coloured boxes in each corner. They give you the blue (I think) coloured pin first, so you have to drop that one into the blue box first before the next colour is given to you. This carries on and at the last colour you get a multi-coloured wheel and then the fun begins all over again as you have to get out of there.

The second puzzle is down in the forest and if memory serves me correctly, there's nine of them. Once complete in the time allotted, a pin drops out and if enough pins are collected you get a prize at the end.

Dinner was at Enrico's in Keurboomstrand that night. It was packed and we had to wait over an hour for a table. Justified, as the food and the atmosphere is amazing.

Last few days - Nature's Valley, Plett and Addo

As mentioned, we were booked to stay three nights, but home was calling and we didn't feel like a long haul the last day, so we jumped at the opportunity when Martina said we must pull in at her place.

To dull the boredom of the N2 we headed through Nature's Valley and the supposedly closed Bloukrans pass to Stormsriver.

Looking back at these pics, just over a year later, it is a bittersweet holiday for me, what with finding out I was pregnant on the trip and knowing that this would be the last long bike trip for a while.

Two great loves tear me apart for now... motherhood and biking.

I do the odd day ride here and there and until that little shit can be strapped onto his Dad's back or can ride his own bike, I am limited to the car or short rides when Granny babysits.

BUT, I SHALL RIDE AGAIN!!!!!
