Lets me start off by saying I bought a lemon of a bike in 2008. I "upgraded" from my lovely yamaha xt 500 which was starting to give loads of problems to what I thought would be a low maintenance new bike. While still under warranty, there were a few problems of failing to start. 3 times it turned out to be a faulty connection of the ignition coil. The bike was bought and serviced/repaired at Mike Hopkins, Cape Town. I'm not sure how/why the ignition coil connectors came disconnected each time.
Now the bike only starts intermittently. The battery is new. The starter motor turns but the bike doesnt start. It will start if I roll start it, but more often than not, does not start when I push the ignition button. Any ideas/suggestions where to look. I dont want to spend lots of money at a mechanic and would rather try sort it out myself.
