Value of Yamaha XT350
« on: April 16, 2008, 08:57:29 am »
I have been offered a Yammie XT350 that has not seen much action, if any at all.  I would appreciate some feedback regarding the value of this bike, that is, "What would you regard as a fair price"?

Yamaha XT350 - originally sold by an official Yamaha distributor.

Year model: 2000 (last year this particular scoot was manufactured) - however from the registration documentation it was first registered, as new, in 2003.
Mileage: 397 km  (yes that is the correct figure!)
Owner: One
Service history:  Not available.  Bike with all original standard equipment.
Condition: Excellent.  Could not see any accident damages.  The footpegs are not even scratched.  Apparently this bike stood in a garage under cover sheet 99% of the time.
Photo's below.  For some obscured reason the owner did not fancy the XT decals & stickers and removed them form the tank and side covers.  :P

Then, the big question - is it a worthwhile bike to acquire and ride - what say the esteem forum members and experts?

R20k.

There is a dealer up here in JHB that got a whole bunch of these in stock, ex police or military, for that price.
Maybe not as neat as that one though.

i take it those oil spots are not from the XT  ;D

Fair price ....low mileage like that i reckon 18k ,book would be a bit lower i  think but does not take into account the low mileage.

i was offered a 04 model with 2000 km's for 23k a while ago...i rode it ,was lekker if a bit pap at altitude ..wanted to buy it but some other idjut jumped the queue.

the XT350 was notoriously "pap"

most 250 out performed it

and for some or other reason all the XT350's i have seen for sale was way overpriced

Looks like a very nice bike.
So...?
How much is he asking for? Or do you have to make him a offer?

I had exactly the same 2000 model bike in exceptionally neat condition.

It even had the original small plastic wallet thingy in the frame under the seat.

It was a beautiful, ultra liable, fuel efficient bike and I wish I still had it. It is not a particularly powerful bike though and is, IMHO, too soft (suspension, clutch, etc) for adventure riding.

Mine had 7000km on the clock and I easily sold it for 20K a year or so ago.

A pity this one have the decals removed - I would immediately put it back on.

For a bike in that condition with that milage I will pay between 20 and 22K.

Dammit - why is all the cool bike always in the Cape?

Cheers

The figure of R15 000 negotiable was mentioned when I looked at it Monday evening.  He also has a KTM 50 Mini Adventure available (son's ex-toy) for about R5 500.

 hi
anything under twenty grand is a fair price.i think the decals were removed as it was probably going to be sprayed by the police or army,as this is where most of those bikes ended up.
i had one, slow and low tech but very reliable,i had no problems with mine other than trying to sell it!
if you plan on keeping it forever, you wont be sorry,go up about 5 teeth on the back sprocket and its a nice soft trail bike.

The whole front end (forks, wheel & disc brake) can be transplanted into a XT500 :)

I think R15k is a giveaway. What maintenance record? The bike's practically new.

No matter how many guys offer to try give you a child at the Bronx. Biologically its not going to work.
