I hang my head in shame - the Tuareg Rallye 2015 is already into its second day, and I only wake up now.

Stage 3: The Mother of All Ergs - The King’s Stage
“When you return from the desert you will be poor and rich at the same time.
You are rich in inestimable experiences but poor in friends who will understand.”
The soft sands of Erg Rissani are the prelude for today’s king’s stage. 250 km of desert sand for our pro riders, 100 km for the amateurs.
Navigation and a particular eye for dunes will be key. After a first contact with some nice, fine-graind sand and, very likely, intensive usage of sand ladders (ok, bikers may use their hands) a small choice of pistes will take us to Erg Chebbi. Motto here: “Save your energy while riding the pistes – You are going to need it later!”
The ‘Mother of All Ergs’ grants our pro drivers four laps of torture pure fun, two laps for the amateur classes.
Erg Chebbi
Today is bound to be a very (!) long day and only a few competitors will master this stage faultless. But that much is sure, no one of them will ever forget this extraordinary experience and can proudly claim “Tuareg Rallye – I have been a part of it!”
