:) :)Sorry to report so late, just been a mad house since the weekend. ???It was a well planned ride, started great ,then all hell broke loose. We had lots of fun on the way up,going through sand, hard pack, missing mobile moving rocks[tortises].What a great bunch of dogs to ride with, xxx,go girl,camelman,xt660,tok tokkie, wayne, riaan and my self.
It all started at KTM,few coffees, yum, then we hit the road.I have done 11 desert runs and i help the medics and have been taught mainley on off road motor cycle accidents.
Its a lot different when you are 3 medics with all the equipment in bakkie following you.I was up front with wayne and riaan, when go girl phoned me and said two dogs down,xt660 tok tokkie.Your mind raced as i rode back hoping there was no major injurys. When i arrived at tok tokkie and saw his legs move, phew no brocken femur.
Thats the worst to handle on a trip like this.I made sure tok tokkie was stable checked him over, bad concussion, sore coller bone,he did not complain about his ribs though old toppie[respect].
Go girl stayed behind with riaan,i rode on to andy.
Shit he looked bad,but thankfully more shock,a wry smile on his face.
I checked him out, realised he could have internal injurys.I organised to load him onto the bakkie wich he had just hit.
We then went two kays up the roud to fetch tok tokkie.Roof ride for them to Picketburg.
At the hospital the staff were a waste of time .Igot the strechers and loaded xt660 and tok tokkie.Iasked where is the doc ,he had gone home already,so i told them to phone him.The doctor said no he was off duty.Go girl got hold of xt660and toktokies wifes, they came to take our fallen comrades home to cape town to the hospital.
DO NOT CRASH,FALL OFF NEAR PICKETBURG. Xxx,riaan,go girl and myself chased on to the ktm bash.
GET WELL FELLOW DOGS

I do not think that dying is a good idea.
Living doing something that you love is a good idea.
Living until you die is a good idea. If living happens to kill you it means you made a mistake, but we are human, and humans make mistakes, so go for it, enjoy it, live until you die, rather than not living for your whole life.

My bikes going to Yamaha tomorrow, doesnt look good though.2 bent front shocks , front rim not repairable, waterpump and housing , some plastic , LH mirror mounting.
Going to get a quote first , so I can see if they going to rite it off or not , or if I can rather get paid out and fix it myself.
Even if they wrote it off , I still want another Yamaha. If they right it off, I`m waiting for the Tenerre,(I think thats how u spell it).
KTM`s not my thing, sorry guys !
I like to be different.
Still very sore , hobbling around at work with a huge back ache isnt any fun.
But as the afrikaans say "Onkryt Vergaan Nie"

Perhaps I should wait for this

Come on Andy, the DARK SIDE IS CALLING. You know you want too. You can't fight it ;D ;D

When we climb on our bikes we accept the risks associated with this sport. We know that sh!t can happen at any time, and thus train by riding alone, and with other riders, learning all the time, and making us better riders.

It is a privilege to ride with okes like the wilddog's and on a continent like Africa.

So lets stop feeling sorry, and lets be happy that XT and Tok-t are semi-okay.

XT shall I pick you up for drinks on Friday?  ;D

Hi Camelman 1
Where ?
Gee , I miss my bike.Had to get a lift with my son in a cage all week.
Backs still quite sore and foot and ribs etc.etc.
But cant wait to heel so we can get back to that Cederbrg trip.By the time the bike is ready , we`ll be doing it in the rain.
The alternative route is going to be interesting in the rain season.
Alex ! the Tenere is only due in August and Linex recon its going to cost 85k.Bit high dont u think?

Howzit all,

I'd just like to say a huge thank you to Andy (XT660R) for all his help in retrieving and looking after Tok-tokkies bike.  Waking up the neighbour to help load the bike on the back of the bakkie was 'above and beyond' (I'll return your straps this week by the way, shot for lending them).  I hope you are healing well, my father is getting more mobile every day.  Now I know you must miss your bike dik, but your 'cage' is not exactly a boring ride either as I'm almost sure it will out drag most of the bikes on this forum (btw, it was very interesting to look around your place when I fetched the bike, lots of things going on in your workshop!).  Anyway thanks again to all the WD's. :thumright:
