Alternatortor question: will my alternator work correctly if I attach my new brushes to the bolts holding the brush holder in place?
The brushes always seem to be soldered to the brush holder

And lastly: how tightly wound should the springs be that push the brushes down?
Do you fit them as the came (brushes are very lightly pushed down) or should it be very tight (and brushes pushed down all the way)
