GSA LC K51 Key
« on: April 01, 2015, 03:46:48 pm »
Warning my new GSW fancy looking key came apart today.  :(

I was lucky not to lose my Key pouch and other keys, as the silver part separated from the plastic.

The silver BMW part does not go through the actual key, so when it separates, the key or the pouch will be lost.

At least the part looks like quality.  I think it was just bad luck, not quite bad quality.

I started biking as an under achiever and it went downhill from there...

Agreed, the problem is that it is only held together with 2 pins, so if you go on a nice gravel bumpy road, it might shake loose, and you could lose the other keys on your keyring.

I superglued mine now, so I wont have that problem again.  :thumleft:

What will we do without superglue or Pratley Steel? ;)

I, for one, never put anything else on my bike key but not for the reasons you experienced -  I don't like the scratch marks left around the key hole.

But fortunately I now have keyless ride.  Problem solved (well, sort of...it's more like avoided).

I too do not even use a keyring on any bike or car key.

Too much weight, too bulky for my pocket, too noisy while driving, too much scratching and collateral damage. Just the key works just fine for me.
