Thought I would make mention of this...as all previous posts read on this forum regarding the DR's fuel consumption, indicates otherwise.
My 2008 DR650SE this past Easter weekend gave me 28km/per liter!!!!... doing 400km of gravel roads in my area. The engine, carburettor and exhaust system is STOCK Standard, and the bike is serviced by Wayne Heaseman Suzuki in Roodepoort.
The riding comprised of approx. 90km tar roads (to get to the gravel) at a speed of 100km/h and the rest on gravel at speeds varying from 40-80km/h. I must admit though, that I did no excessive bursts of acceleration, just cruised along very leisurely...
Shows one what can be done at a decent and civilized pace on these bikes.
