Actually, Paul, I agree.

The only place I'll beat you is on the open road, top speed. And maybe acceleration through the gears if theres an open road.

EVERYWHERE else - this bike will eat the SE. No doubt about it.

Shes a cool bike. What about the headshake at about 100?

LITO,

I meant bikes with the same capacity, you are an excemption bra. You too fast man on that se.

It is not really head shake, I have adjusted the suspension today from standard to sport and will be trying this out tomorrow again. I think that the real solution is the tyre. This will be changed on Wednesday.

Are you coming with tomorrow for a wee ride out in the country????

ooo donner - no. I am a stadig poepol on this bike, that much I do know. I watched old Marco make me eat my postoasties for breakfast starting on the sand, and I tell you... goeie donner. I gained HUGE respect that day for the 690 - and lighter bikes in general. The 250's made me look like I was trying to ride a R1 competetively through the sand (when it came to sand). Wow.....those bikes and pilots are awesome. But it was fun duking it out a bit with Marco when he rode the other SE. (although I very much suspect he was being kind to me... :'()

So thanks for the info on the headshake, I heard Jacko complain of it yesterday so I was intrigued. He was riding with Deserts on the road... and experienced the same thing.

Tell me of the ride, I may or may not be able to join you. Of course would like to!!!

I suspect the headshake due to tyres or tyre pressure , I had it up to 160+ with no problems on standard tyres inflated to recommended pressure.

Its not on tar that the problem is occurrin, but yes pressure was let down from 2.8bar to 1.7bar. But a tyre change is required for dirt riding.

She is excellent, you will only understand once you have ridden one.

I cant look back since i bought her. The new LC4 690 and the old LC4 640 are chalk and cheese.

Get to your local dealer and get a test ride on there demo.

So on the issue you had with the 690.
Did you ride into something or is there a defect in the oil sight glass that needs to be addressed by KTM ?

My 5c on your bike.

Quick impressions;

Killer motor, instant response. Loves to rev, lots of torque, wheelies off the throttle. That Acropovic does "talk" a lot. I like it.
The seat?....!
Brakes have great feel, easily modulated, haul down the speed fast.
Suspension was great, firm and took the bigger hits well.
As you said, front is a bit twitchy. Without your damper I wonder how much confidence I would have had.
Gearbox was clickable and solid.
All the controls light.

The bike is very light (coming from a 950), and was easy to slide, jump and throw about. It wasn't upset by much. I was immediately comfortable on the bike. It was great to barrel into corners and slide out.

If they brought out an adventure model...

Thanks for the ride.

I wonder where that road goes? And that, has usually made all the difference. Appologies to Mr Frost
