Kawasaki H2
« on: April 15, 2015, 05:25:52 pm »
I've noticed that there is often a lot of bad vibes towards superbike riders on this forum, with many remarks about them being irresponsible and killing themselves.

This is not true, as I have found out today. The Kawasaki H2 is the first mass produced supercharged superbike, and it is limited to only 299 km/h. I tried and tried, and all I could get was a pedestrian 299.

Also, and I double checked this, I wasn't killed once.

See, a perfectly responsible superbike for responsible people.

There's a race of men that don't fit in, A race that can't stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood, And they climb the mountain's crest; Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood, And they don't know how to rest.                                                   Robert Service

I firmly believe that everyone should try a big superbike at least once in his life, if he proclaims even the slightest love of motorcycling.

Very difficult for Joe average to get a spin in a top-of-the-range Ferrari, but with superbikes the same performance is very accessible.

That H2 is one ugly duckling.

Ugly duckling indeed- there is just no reason in today's computer aided design to nightmare such a monster- new R1 is different yet beautifully styled, as is the Aprillia, Dukes
I shall refrain from comment on the stroke faced RR

Could be because the R is not roadworthy and costs twice as much ??

Apparently cams, exhaust and software is all thats needed to convert your H2 into an H2R.

No - ZX10 and ZX14 will continue being produced.  ZX10 especially for racing homologation.  I don't know what class the H2 / R will be able to race in, but it is an entirely separate model being produced alongside the others... I think for the most part, just because they can.
The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

Agreed, they design a super sleek and a great looking bike and then slap that hideous can on it.

They are very very different bikes. The R1 is more track focused while the H2 is more a road bike. The H2 will probably out accelerate the R1, but on top they should be quite similar.
