Thought I will share this little tip with you okes.
On the XT, the bottom steering head bearing shell can be a bit difficult to remove without
something to drive it gently out. There is no protruding lip for a straight driver. Driver with a slightly angled lip is needed. One can spend a bit of time and make one but I used a tool that all of us carry in the toolkit.
Tyre lever. It worked perfectly.
Clean first and wrap the tool nicely with some masking tape so as not to damage the top bearing shell/cup.
The lip on the tyre lever fits nicely on top of the bottom bearing shell. I gently tapped it out keeping the shell square by tapping opposite sides. No hurry ,no damage . Remember gently. Niks moer en doodslaan nie.
