Im thinking about a 690 to replace my 950S and a little concerned with size (of the bike)

Any tall riders? I know comfort isn't its strong point. But I dont want it to look like a BMX underneath me.

I need to spend a little bit of time in the saddle of a 690.

It's so uncomfortable you'll only want to spend a little time on it

Think carefully about want you want to do with the bike, longer tours are not its strong points unless you're adding extra tanks. For around town and dunes and offroad tracks, you'll love it, hooilgan machine of note.

I only ride my 950 on longer trips. Ie southern cape, West coast etc. With little baba nearly here is think my 5 day trips are going to have to wait a while.

I will still do day rides. Tankwa, cederberg, atlantis that sort of thing.

Good point, your wings will be clipped somewhat

I love my 690 but its touring abilities (or lack thereof) frustrate me. I’m not used to only getting 200km on a tank but then again, a 950SE getting caned will get even less than that. I’m not saying don’t buy it, just plan accordingly

First suggestion is buy a bike with extra tanks on it already, they’re kak expensive to add on afterwards and you never get your bucks back for them.

I’ve no doubt you will love a 690 and I can put safe money on it that you will ride that YZ even less after buying one because it can literally do it all… even tour if well equiped
