OTP signed and deposit paid for a manual ABS at Honda Tygerberg. They can not confirm colour and only know they are receiving 3 units, however my preference is the tri colour.

Everybody keeps telling me how underpowered the bike is in comparison to the 1200cc usual suspects but personally believe the handling will make up for any lack of adrenaline.

The Honda accessories aren't badly priced; much the same as any other brand.

Which brand is the "Aftermarket" stuff? Touratech?

Dilemma.. After a ride yesterday I told one of the blokes I had a deposit down on the new AT. He immediately asked if it was the DCT as that would be his choice. So he is a much better rider than myself and more knowledgeable on bikes in general, and now done my head in. Has this been debated elsewhere or is it a moot point as there are no more DCT available for purchase in SA anyway?

My logic for the manual was price, additional weight, and the fact we don't get to test ride them before having to put our name on a list. So if I took delivery of a DCT and didn't like it, am totally pooched. If I get the manual its going to be bloody awesome and if I never ride the DCT I would remain unaware there is something better.

So I went for the blissfully ignorant approach. Comments welcome that can put me at ease

Don't over-think it.
I have ridden both the DCT and the manual model - both are good and you will probably be happy with the manual anyway.

What car do you drive?
The normally aspirated one?
Damn, you should have gotten the turbo!

There's no dilemma unless you allow it to be.

the biggest dilemma is what colour to choose having not seen the bike in real life - the rest I believe will be pure pleasure

Just got back from a business trip to China, with a detour return via Singapore. With some spare time on my hands in Singapore I got googling and found a PI ( parallel importer ) ( no pun intended

)who had 1 or 2 AT's on the floor. Turns out they had 16 Twins that are all sold and waiting for their entitlement certificates before delivery. What was shocking to hear is that these bikes are sold to locals for a cool 32500.00 S$ or about R364000.00. This is due to Singapore's hectic vehicle taxes.
I wasted no time catching a cab with bike shop address in hand, 15 minutes later I was seated on a nicely kitted black beauty. They were kind enough to let me start the bike up and take it for a loop inside the complex parking. Now I sold my perfectly good F800GSA in November and ordered this bike solely based on my love for Honda and from what I was able to learn from extensive internet research, my gut feel after less than a minute on the bike was that I wont be sorry. Just the looks of the bike are enough to make you want one! Ive got a Tri Colour manual on order, but must say the black is also a real stunner.

My first choice is tricolour and secondly black
I suspect there will be many more tricolours sold so perhaps black will be just a little bit more special since they will be relatively rare

The info that I have is that the black in SA will only be available in the base model. ie. No ABS/Traction control and standard indicators (non LED) as well as no hand guards. Pitty!

as was mentioned before there could be some trading in plastic body parts , they are all good the colours - saw some pics of the silver one recently - also very beautiful

The bash plate is standard or were those different? Am thinking of adding a centre stand and does it tuck away nice and neat underneath or did you not really take note? The crash bars am really not keen from an aesthetics point but lets see after the first fall as I might change my mind...

Besides the centre stand had no accessories planned, anybody else?
