THREE Brits in Namibia - workshop needed.
« on: June 27, 2015, 08:03:38 pm »
Hello all,

I am travelling with my 2 sons on the long thought about motorcycle trip through Africa. We picked up our bikes - two  CCM GP450 and one BMW G650gs last week in Capetown.

Currently in Namibia and heading for Keetmanshoek tomorrow to pick up some spare parts.

Was wondering if anybody could suggest a place to do some work on the bikes? Also a recommendation on accommodation would be very helpful.

Thanks!
David

You can try Bird's Nest B&B.Reasonably priced and good enough. Tel no +2646322906. What type of work do you need done? I assume it is on one of the bikes. Whereabouts are you currently?

Let me know and I might be able to assist.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the quick reply and the suggestion for a b and b. Sounds good. I'll call them tomorrow.

We need to swap a starter motor. Not a big job but I didn't want to be doing it in the street. Currently in Ai-Ais.

Cheers
David

Good luck with your travels.

I'm sorry to have missed the CCMs in Cape Town. I'd like to have seen one in the flesh.

Just a quick update. Arrived in  Keetmansoop and hotel has a covered area that I can use to work on the bike so should be OK without a workshop.

I will be coming back to Capetown later this year so happy to meet up for anybody interested in seeing the CCMs.

Cheers
David and sons

Hi Everybody,

Thanks for your interest in our trip. We are beginning to realise what a friendly bunch you all are!

We are in the middle of revising our plan to take into account our misunderstanding of the SA Visa regulations. Unless we get an extension we need to be out of SA by the 15th Sept which means we have to make a decision on how far North we go. We had wanted to get up to Rwanda and do the "gorilla" bit but I think we are struggling for time now... UNLESS we can find a quick way to get the bikes back from that area to SA, maybe by Air or Rail?

Does anybody know if this is feasible or just wishful thinking?

Cheers
David
