E Toll account - not my car
« on: July 01, 2015, 07:57:23 pm »
Some advice please. Received an e-toll account today. All my details but not my vehicle ofrnumber plate. I don't even own a car. How do they get this right and how do I fix it (in a civilized calm way) ???

I wish that would happen to me!  ;D
I would just leave it as is and wait for Sanral to make their move - I hate doing other peoples admin for them..... clog the system with admin!

Are you saying someone cloned your motorbike numberplate and made a car numberplate?

That's not cool, but I wouldn't worry if I were you, you said it yourself, you don't own a car, so unless they can prove with it with an e-Natis document that you do own a car, I would just ignore it.

If someone wants to prove you are wrong and CAN prove you do own a car with that plate, tell them they can sell your car, deduct the etoll amounts owed, and pay you the rest out in cash.

Win Win situation.

If you had a psychic midget who killed someone, you would have a small medium at large.

The the Xtrail in the picture and the number plate....not mine. All the other details, including my id number are. That's the scary bit. How do they have all my details. I'm inclined to agree on just leaving it, but would like to chat to the Xtrail driver....

Sounds like a fraudulent registration.

Have you lost an ID at some stage?

I agree that this sounds like stolen I'D.

My advice would be to make the effort and open a case of stolen Identity with SAPS to cover yourself.
I recently had to do the same when some twat basically nicked my details for his Honda Ballade. ...  for the past two years he's been committing offences.....about 3 months ago I received notification on my phone.....that summons was issued and that this could lead to warrant of arrest.....
Now with our amazing SAPS and their amazingly intelligent cops....oh and wonderful legal system....   it suddenly occurred to me that if I was riding my bike...  and I get stopped in a roadblock. ...and a warrant of arrest has been issued on my ID NUMBER .......would the fine officers listen to my explanation of being the innocent party....or will they put me in new accommodation until I can prove innocence. ...?

To avoid any unnecessary and unpleasant situation. ....rather open a case as preemptive strike....

Go to e natis check if the vehicle is registered in your name and take it from there.

If it is, let them advise you.

If not, relax .

Sanral get the details from E-Natis.  You can ignore, but this is a bigger problem than Sanral and e-tolls.  The dude driving that vehicle is basically driving under your name.  So yes, Sanral bills will come you way.  So will his fines.  Worst case, he robs a bank using that car.  It is a hug schlepp, but I would try and sort at a licensing office, to ensure e-natis is correct.

it might be a plate that i owned once, looks vaguely familiar. will have to go back into old records and see. left it at home today.

Yeah, I know, his ID number and name etc were registered on the toll bill but not his Plate or Car.

Still interesting to know, everyone with issues are not alone...
