KTM 690 Foot Peg Advice.
« on: July 07, 2015, 09:41:31 am »
I was wondering if anyone could maybe provide me with some advice on wide foot peg options for the KTM 690?

Ideally I'm looking for something that is locally available, are easy to fit and do not cost a small fortune?

Lastly, do those of you that do have wide foot pegs on your bikes, honestly believe they're worth the added expense?

I have them on my 690.  Makes a huge difference if you spend long hours on the bike.
Your feet does not hurt after a long day.

Also, means you can have a wider stance and push the bike lower into the corners.
I love them, won't go back to the smaller ones.

Get them from KTM.  They always have stock.  (RAD and Trax up here in Transvaal)

I bought the rally footpegs from RAD and it's well worth it for reasons mentioned above. They do cost a lot however, but most of the other options do aswell and these where made by KTM for the bike so they fit perfectly.

Thanks Koos.

KTM want R3000 for the pair (Rally Raid) they have in stock. I find it difficult to justify spending that sort of money on foot pegs.

I imported pegs about 3 years ago, was R4000 then.  The rallye pegs are a bargain, in comparison.

Thanks for the feedback.

I really need to prioritize the order in which I add upgrades to the bike, so spending R3k on foot pegs, when I still need to get a screen, tail rack and a back tyre probably doesn't make sense right now.

At the point you want to fit a second fuel pump, you'll realise the pegs are a bargain!!!   :deal:

KTM Rallye pegs FTW. Well worth it off road, even more so when wearing softer adv style boots without support.

I have rally pegs on my KTM 450 I use for rally, but honestly I wouldn't do it again - using MX boots, and pretty much anyone riding serious offroad is, I'd assume - I don't think there's a hell of a difference. One should be gripping the bike with your ankles anyway and then the standard pegs are fine. It's not like they are toothpicks like come on a 1200GS or anything.

I am short and I have chubby legs so with the rally kit, the fuel tanks push on my knees and my feet get pushed out to the outer half of the peg. Not too serious in slower technical sections but high speed when your body position is a little more forward and your legs less bent it becomes a real problem. Wider pegs are a must for me
