DR650 Bashplate and Rear Rack Project
« on: July 10, 2015, 10:34:39 am »
I recently designed a bashplate and rear luggage rack for my DR650 and had them fabricated from 5mm aluminium 5754. I am very pleased with the results. Here are a couple of photos.
Let me know if you'd like to buy one of these. if there is enough interest I'll get some more made up.

Here is the raw bashplate before drilling the mounting holes.

And the rack before mounting.

The bashplate on the bike.

And the rack on the bike.

Looking very good....  :thumleft: Just a idea... consider laser cutting some holes/slots in the bash plate for to get rid of the water and dirt that may lay in it.

Yup, still have to do this. I also want to cut a hole for the sump plug so I don't have to take it off to do an oil service.

Been a pretty hectic period at work but will try get a quote together and let you guys know. The fabricator does work for me as a favour in between large production runs so it may take a bit of time to get pricing.

Hi there Alphat,

My friend sent me the link that you posted on the DR650 Bashplate and Rear Rack and I am hoping that you are still in the market to either make them or help us to get them made.

My girlfriend just bought a DR650 and the bike is 100% stock standard - no bash plate, carry rack or even crash bars.

So far we found a rear carry rack from a local seller but the price is out of our budget - R3800.
We are also interested in a bashhplate - so far only found one from Lecap at a reasonable price (R3000) and a nice design but unfortunately stock is only available from mid December.

Hope you can assist.

Regards
Gerhard

Need to cut laser holes especially under the sump plug.
