DRZ question...
« on: May 08, 2008, 03:14:33 pm »
Hi All,

I can get a very good deal on a DRZ400SM. I know this is not a strictly ds bike... but,

Is it possible to swop the 17inch front wheel for a 21". The bike will be used for commuting but I also want to take it off road over weekends for some fishing.

The "S" model is a bit more expensive than this one.

What do you think? Keep a set of off road wheels spare?

I've only read of guys doing it the other way round - they have 400Z's (E's or S's) and have another set of 17" rims and hubs laced up for road use.

Try this for a great resource: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=25

Can be done but rather go for the S if it's 2003 or newer as it will have the FCR etc. After getting some offroad wheels sorted there might not be a price diff anymore ? The SM has usd shocks which may have a different spring rate for motarding and not be suited for ds riding. Like LGF said just search TT, there are bound to be 30 odd posts on this subject.

Thanks guys! The link was a great help. Think I will give the SM a miss....

Maybe I should rather buy an "E" when I am back in SA.

For interest sake... what sort of price am I looking at for an 05/06 model?
