Even a court of law, after reviewing all the facts, defer to a child psychologist to find out if there was malicious intent or just plain child stupidity.

If it was children, yip, I agree with LS in that they really often do not think through the consequences of their actions and although stupid, cannot see myself asking for them to get an attemtped murder charge against their name.

If it wasn't, well then it is more likely that there was some malicious intent, even if only to rob as the person was hurt or came off - this is possible.

I nearly brained someone accidentally because a joke got out of hand; yip, we all do stupid things......my parents never hit any of us, but boy, when they went through the potential consequences of OUR actions, I felt so shite......Guilt, my mother had it down to a flipping fine art!

I dont necessarily believe it was children in the 1st place .

when i ride my bike along the roads of this country and a child picks up a stone an throws it at me ,his intention is not caused by child stupidity, his intention is to hurt me ...nothing less. that child has enough knowledge of the effects of a thrown stone.  

Courts deferring children to psycologists etc , they have to it is law...they have no room to manouvere on the subject.

In such a case I will probably abide by society's laws because I don't have a qualified answer of my own.
If it were my child who did it I guess I will punish him/her myself and try to shield him/her from your wrath

Im guilty of a similar offence.

When i was about 7 we spanned fishing gut - 10+ strands - in the back garden between 2 tent pegs. It was shin hight and right in the way of the dronk adults moving in and out of the house. One dronk oomie came out and did not fall as the line was a bit slack, but in his dronkness he just kept on pushing his legs forward. His shins were cut to bits  We got the hidings of our lives. My dad was not shy to use the broom stick in those days.

We did not intend to hurt any one but have a laugh at someone falling over the "rope" we made.

Stupid, but ya what do you really know when you are a kid.

No doubt this was done by kids. If it was an adult it would have been blou draad and the poor girl would have been dead.

i made a chlorine bonb at school during secondbreak, in the boys bathroom. We tried to make sure no-one walks in before the thing went off, my mate decided it would make less of a bang if we put the empty 25l paintdrum dustbin over the bottle.... needless to say it blew a big ass hole in the ceiling, cracked a rafter, and took a basin off the wall on the way up.

in 1994 (pre election) when all the schools was getting the bomb scares....

Same wire over the dirtroad incident happened here in Centurion not too long ago, at a place called Samrand, wire strung across the dirt where dirt bikes and quads ride. Some bloke was seriously injured.

It's all fun and games, till someone loses a loved one. It's still attempted murder, even if the culprit was only doing it for a bit of fun. Attempt to murder someone for a bit of fun, yeah, sounds about right to me.

Kids will be kids, but listening to all the wrongs you guys have done, none of them were anywhere near the attemted murder line.
I think it is in the upbringing. We were moer naughty as laaities, but never did anything stupid like stringing a line across a road.
