Let me start this off with an apology.  We did 4 300km for the week, with only 350km on dirt. But as you continue to read here, you will understand why.

We received a call from a friend early in January asking if we are joining them.

"Joining you where?"

"We're riding down to Pine Lake Marina, Sedgefield last weekend in April. So you joining us?"

"Yes, why not!"

So it was settled. Thanks to Uncle Thabo the wife only had to put in 2 days leave, and all was set.  Our group consisted out of -
* Leon - Aprilia Capanord
* Gretchen - Aprilia Tuano
* Danie & Val - Aprilia Capanord
* Morkel - Moto Guzzi Breva 750
* Jockey - BMW 650 GS
* Perd - KTM

We left Pretoria @ 06:00 Saturday 26 April, heading down the highway to the Blockhouse stop on the R59, where we met Adventurer & co on their way to see Plottie on a GS.

Breakfast was had @ the Wimpy, and the final route was discussed.  We will follow the country tar roads through the Free State, passing little towns that are almost forgotten en route to Aliwal North where we were booking in at a B&B.

We stopped in Wepener for lunch, what an experience.  An old bar stocked to the roof, some afrikana history.

We did about 750km for day 1.

The B&B in Aliwal was great.  The underfloor heating was on, the electric blankets were on, alles when we arrived moeg.  The bar was great, and so the food.

The next morning we left after breakfast, heading to Burgersdorp, Graaff-Reinet, Oudtshoorn, George, Sedgefield.

But that is for later...
