Filter Skin or Prefilter with stock 690 airbox? Ideas?
« on: August 20, 2015, 04:17:30 am »
Does anyone have a pre-filter or filter skin product they have found works with the stock 690 air box?

I want to have a way to replace the filter skin on a daily basis instead of carrying extra filters or filter cleaning gear.  Something disposable sounds real good.

I've been thinking of using two layers of oiled hair nets like you see in a food service environment - wrap them around the bottom of the snorkle fitting on top of the airbox.  The hairnets are made of a fuzzy, very fine netting material - they run about 1/5th of a US dollar here each.

Do you have another idea that will work in very dusty environments?

Thank you in advance.

Most bike shops sell filter foam sheets.  You can get them in different sizes and thickness.  Get a 10 mm sheet en fit that on top of the stock filter.  Should help and it doesn't restrict air flow to much.
