work was getting HECTICALLY busy, so left from the Store on Saturday at 1pm, direction any-where!  :)

M5, N2, to Sir Lowry's Pass, and then over the pass, all on tar, unfortunately (I plan to go up Sir Lowry's off-road shortly...)

On my 450 'Adventure Lite' https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=165182.160, I ride the slow lane on tar, find a slow car doing 95km/h to 100km/h on the N2, and slip-stream them, until they turn-off, and then find the NEXT slow candidate - it's actually FUN riding slowly!  ;)

Could not find a way UP Sir Lowry's off-road, so went over on tar, but then immediately went onto the white sand - behind the fence, and had a LOT of fun, all the way down to the farm-stall on the left....

then crossed over the road to the other side of the N2, and tried to find a way past Mizpah Youth Camp (what a lekker little camp!), but no way through to Kleinmond  :(

Then doubled back to the N2, and rode on the OTHER side, behind the fence again, until near Perregrine Farm Stall.

then right onto Highlands road, LEKKER little scenic tar road, becoming good, fast dirt through the pine plantations, and exiting near Arabella.

Hooked a left on tar, then left on tar to Bot River, drew cash, lots of Canola out at the moment...

and then on to the beautiful Van Der Stel Pass, lots of fun!
(Bike clicked over from 4999km, so i captured the moment!)

exited VDStel pass, then right towards Villiersdorp, stopping for smoked cheese and a glassie Rooi at the Aphrodisiac Shack - well worth a stop!

Stayed in Misty Mountain guest rooms in Villiersdorp, and went to Theewaterskloof Yacht Club for the areas best ribs, WP on the Big Screen, and a beer or two.

Avoided HUNDREDS of Cape Leopard toads crossing the tar near the Yacht Club, on their annual 'Pomp' Pilgrimage!  ;)

Next morning, back partly on tar, a different route...
(NEEDS COMPLETING...)
then rode both sides of the N2 again, direction Cape Town, the sandy/stony bits behind the N2, good fun, expect the unexpected, nearly hit a bloated, very dead dog coming around a bush!

Then tried to get onto the Silvermine tar road, to get down to Gordons Bay, but it was locked, meaning no motorbikes (though I DID check the fence line 200m either side in case I needed a, er, 'pee'... ;) )

then took the turn-off to the view spot on top of Sir Lowry's Pass, and ran along the side of the mountain, on a good Twee-spoor track, and ultimately over the mountain and quite far down the other side, until I cam to a BIG gate and a BIG fence, and an interim pumping relay station (or some such - anyone the wiser on what it is?)

Turned back, so close to my goal, and then took another 2 routes, neither of which panned out, so came back down on Sir Lowry's Pass road, staring LONG and HARD at the Railway tracks...

Investigated the gravel roads that go back up the mountain, but they only went as far as the power-line masts, and then petered out.

So found good gravel roads running all the way back to Gordons Bay area, but no road UP (as expected).

Rode home to Houties via Baden Powell Drive, enjoying the sea air, and just chilling!

Trip to be repeated, since I see a track on Google Earth that runs to Grabouw from the top of Sir Lowry's.

NOTE: no signs whatsoever prohibited me from riding where I did, and I did not stray onto Cape Nature property, etc.

Cheers
Chris
