2015 Kawasaki Versys 650
« on: August 27, 2015, 07:56:26 am »
Hi guys.

What do you think of the new Kawasaki Versys 650?  I've done a bit of reading on the bike, and there aren't much wrong with it.  People seem to love the bike.  It's got a bit of a cult following in Europe and America.  The engine is not a wow factor but it will do the job for many years to come.  I think the price is also amazing at R 89 995.00.

Any information good or bad will be much appreciated.
Enjoy The Freedom...

For R10-20k extra you can get a late model R1200GS.

Better buy IMO.

Do a search, I think it was MARSHALL MOTORCYCLES, that were advertising new 2014 models for R64 999.00. Now that's a good deal.

Yeah Jupiter, Kawasaki has brought in the 2014 model at that price. A bud of mine got one not so long ago and is very happy with it and pillions.
Great bike and great value.

And I think I read the Versys is being discontinued, so do you still get a 2015 model and would it not be the same bike as a 2014 model ? That price is ruff.

For R20k less you can a bran new, out of the box 2014 spec 650 Versys.

Quite a lot of changes between 2014 and 2015 spec bikes.

A 1200 GS is to big and heavy to use in between vineyards and fruit/vegetable tunnels.  I like the 21 liter fuel tank on the Versys, with almost 400 km on a tank.  I'd pay the extra 20K for the new shape, I'm not to crazy about the old look.  If you spend 9 ours a day on your bike, you'd look for something user friendly, light on fuel and easy to get along with day after day.  Plus the fairing makes it a perfect weapon to shoot up the west coast for a weekend getaway.

All the Kawasaki dealers should have the 650 Versys for R65k although current stock is fast running out and I believe only yellow is still available,  the 2nd shipment that is du soon is apparently going to be a little more.

The second shipment of 2014 Versys 1000's will be here soon and they are probably going to keep the price at R99995.

There are quite a few changes between the 14 and 15 Versys 650 models apart from the new cosmetic design, rear subframe, brake calipers, master cylinder, suspension etc.

Had the Er6 F with the same motor, commuting between Grabouw and Strand. Just loved it. Though of buying 2015 Versys but the dealer told me it was only available in yellow for now! Ag nee sies man....  YELLOW! The black one looks nice. I must agree I would pay the extra for the new shape.

So we had a 'surge' in 650 Versys (2014) customers coming in to our Store, all pleased as punch (and so they should be, at that reduced price!), and these customers were looking for all manner of farkles for this very bike, but the accesory importers were nearly all out of stock, touring  windscreens, rear huggers, wide footpeg, you name it....

Then the 'deep discount' penny dropped, and we understood the 'surge'.....

Very nice, underrated twin   >:D

There are yellow 2015 Versys 650's on dealer floors but there are stacks of "Pearl Stardust White" ones in the KMSA warehouse.  If  dealer is telling you that there are only yellow ones it's because he has a yellow one in stock and that's the one he wants to sell you.

Mad Mac's Kawasaki (Somerset West) have the following

Kawasaki Versys 650 - 2014 for R65 995

Brand new, that's a steal!

All Kawa dealers have them.  If you compare you find that, that price is slightly cheaper than the new Yamaha R3 and pretty much on par with the 300 Ninja.  An absolute steal.  Three Think Bike members have already bought them and one dude bought the 2014 1000 Versys for just under R100k.  Also a HUGE steal.  Anyone in the market for a R60k - R70k bike, must consider this deal.

They have a similar deal on 2014 new Z800's as well.  The price eludes me now, but around R85k.

They must have flown from the dealers at R85k.

They did, but there were only 30 of them to start with.
