Cape to Cairo - a farther son bonding experience

At the end of 2013 my 19 year old son (who turned 21 yesterday) and I did a Cape to Cairo trip.  We were supposed to go all the way to Amsterdam but the last bit from Egypt across the Med proved to be a little bit too much of a challenge.  Anyway, as all you dads can imagine, this was an amazing 3 months trip for me.  My son likes writing and publishes his stories of the trip to earn some extra money.  The list below are some of his published stories.  The first one is his overall view of the trip.  This was published in the Cape Union Mart magazine, the Intrepid Explorer.  If you have a son, and you want to be inspired to take him on a long trip then I encourage you to read this.  Every time I read this I am grateful that I managed to fulfil the promise I made to him when he was 5 days old.
