KTM 690 Oil
« on: September 04, 2015, 02:42:59 pm »
Good Day Gents

I have a 2009 690 E with about 13K on it of which only 1000 is mine.

Just a quick query to see what oil you guys are running in your 690's ?

I have read the manual and I see it recommends Motorex 10w50 ... and some guys even run with 10w60.

My old man gave me the remaining three 1L's of my old racing quads MOTUL 4T 300V 15W50 oil, still sealed after 6years :thumleft:

I don't know what oil the big orange girl has been using up until now, but I do know that this is fully synthetic..

Thoughts if I should use this, or not ?  :peepwall:

Thanks !

If it was my bike I would probably just use Motorex. Not really worth saving a few hundred rands...

Well noted, Thanks.

Reckon I will try swing these bottles to someone that may use it on a Jap motor instead  :)

try and get this

both are JASO T903 but the recommended viscosity for the oil in the owners manual is 10W/60 or 10W/50 as far as I know/remember

Something to think about...
When you complain, you make yourself a victim. Leave the situation, change the situation, or accept your it. All else is madness.

There is nothing wrong with that Motul oil of yours except that I think that it expires after a while!

I use LiquiMolly (I think it's the 10W50) full synthetic on my 2013 690 since day one. 20K kilo's now and no problems. Touch wood. :)
I change my oil every 5000 kilo's.
I'm a fan of Motul as well (used it on all my SUperbikes), have not used Motorex as yet.

If there is 1 bike that is not particular about oil, its a 690.  I have used anything available that has remotely the right viscosity. I quite often mix a different brands as well.  If it starts with 15W, it will work.
