Your report on the Swartberg Pass piece really got me curious and so we road it at the end of September. Consider yourself wise to turn when you did as the trouble ramps up from that point. From a difficulty level of 1-5 you turned at about 2. And 5 was just around the corner for about 20km and then eased off again. It will take some rider and a couple of mates to help carry to get through there on a 1200BM. We also road it in the rain in about 0 degrees C.

The farmer mentioned you guys and also a couple of mountain bikers that have attempted the route. Evidently the mtb's came off much worse and had to be rescued by the farmer.

Anybody else wanting to try I'm going again in December.

Oh my gash WildWood, that looks like it was last used in WW2. Please post more photos and a RR. I still can't belive my cycling gps thought it was a short cut. What was the biggest bike in your group that made it through? I'd love to do it with my 200. Was the farmer upset with bikes riding through there. I would have thought those loose strands of wire we picked up on the track were placed there as a sign by him to keep bikes out.

Hi Lance,
We chatted to the farmer before we went in. He gave us permission to go but doubted we'd get through.
It was a recce for my tough 3 day  December tour. Myself and a mate rode 690's that are fortunately light enough to lift and carry over one or two bad bits.
Your 200 will be cheating and not enough challenge.
