New travel TV series coming soon to SA – with a difference. A program about South Africa, made by South Africans.

Remember the first day of the school holidays, remember how you felt, how unashamedly happy you were?

Well, we feel like that every time we climb onto our motorcycles, leave the city and the tar behind, and head off to explore the more remote parts of our beautiful country. And we get to feel like that just about as often as we like.

For most people, these remote areas we like to explore are a never-ending, let’s-get-the-hell-out-of-here expanse of nothing they race past on their way to and from the big cities up north or along the coast.

They’re missing out!

They’re missing out because these off the beaten path areas are full of secrets and charm; with a beauty both as hard as rock art and as promising as sunrise.

After years of travelling and exploring on adventure motorcycles, we were sat at some remote campsite, fire slowly burning down, gazing off into the starlight sky, after an awesome day spent riding, exploring and meeting people, and one of us (I cannot remember who) said “You cannot explain all this to someone, you have to show them”, and so the idea for “Look What You’re Missing” was born.

Look What You’re Missing is a made for TV documentary story that comprises thirteen episodes, each twenty-four minutes long. The series is currently in production and will be on air in late September 2015, on Channel 189 ignition.

It features the adventures of a group of bikers who explore the ‘roads less travelled’ throughout Southern Africa, on-road and off-road (gravel roads). Sound familiar? Maybe. But there’s a not-so-subtle difference. Rather than emphasizing what the rider sees, it zooms in on what he/she does not see. Hence the title which is both a question and a challenge:

“Look What You’re Missing”

Throughout each episode, the viewer will experience the enjoyment and excitement of the ride, the breath-taking views, fauna and flora, etc.; as well as the food, fun and camaraderie they share at their destinations.

This series will also introduce the viewer to the fantastic world of adventure biking or duel sporting. Through the passion and experience of the presenters themselves, to the many tips, tricks and hordes of useful information featured in each episode, you will be left with the urge to try this life changing “sport” out, or at least give it a closer inspection. So don’t be alarmed if you find yourself standing in a motorcycle dealer one day, wondering how you got there.

You might just become one of the many people who will argue that South Africa’s beauty is best viewed from behind the handlebars of a motorcycle because when you crest a mountain range in a vehicle, it is like looking at a pretty picture, but on motorcycle, you are in the picture. A motorcycle just makes things different like that.

We hope you will join us on our journeys.

The LWYM Team.

Wow, didn't know this was still being discussed, but thank you.

We hard at it, and the next 6 installments should be on air towards the end of the year. We have been told they are going to rerun the first lot just before that as well.

I will post all the details closer to the time, but if I must say so myself, its looking good, we have a lot more cameras, crew and a fancy drone helping us capture what its like to be out there on a motorcycle.

Just ordered Series One from Ice-Tags for the small sum of R95.00 excluding postage

Now I can watch it when I want and it also helps them in a small way make more shows

Sometimes you don't need a plan, just balls :)
I'd rather ... be riding my motorcycle and thinking about God than sitting ... in Church and thinking about my motorcycle.

Saw someone wearing a "Look what you're missing" t-shirt at Gerrit's Oasis Spit braai last weekend but he was very camera shy. I looked through my photo's and I missed him.

Watching this now as I am drafting up my dream trip from Tanzania through to the Cape, and back, and so I am consuming as much Africa-related moto content as possible. The second season is a substantial step up in quality from the first, which was already a fun little thing - y'all talk a lot quicker and far more naturally on camera, and that makes a huge difference!
